NORFOLK, Va. (WVEC) -- Norfolk city leaders are warning everyone to stay off the roads.

Here's one reason why: several of the city's underpasses are under water!

The city posted pictures from the overpasses on Brambleton Avenue and Virginia Beach Boulevard:

Officials say the pump that normally drains the underpass became too overwhelmed by Matthew's rains, which led to the flooding.

The city is in touch with the Army Corps. of Engineers to get additional pumps to help drain the underpass at Brambleton and Tidewater. It could take several days before the overpasses will reopen to traffic.
