NORFOLK, Va. (WVEC) -- A Norfolk family is waking up without a home after a two-alarm fire claimed it, and the lives of their two pets.

Fire officials say the it started around 10:30 Tuesday night on Pascal Place, near Kempsville Road.

The home sustained heavy fire and smoke damage.

All four people in the house escaped unharmed. But firefighters later found their two pets dead.

No word on what the cause of the fire was, at this time. Firefighters say there were working smoke detectors inside the home.
