NORFOLK, Va. (WVEC) -- Police are investigating a shooting that left a man seriously injured Monday evening.

Officers received word of shots fired in the 100 block of East Gilpin Street just before 8:50 p.m.

When officers arrived they found a 28-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. His condition has been upgraded to serious, and he is expected to survive.

An early investigation leads officers to believe the shooting happened in the 9300 block of Granby Street.

No suspect information is available at this time.
