Police: Man attacked woman at gas station in Norfolk, kidnapped her

Malik Fortes appeared in court. Norfolk police said he assaulted Olivia Oliver at a gas station, dragged her into a truck, and drove off.

NORFOLK, Va. — A man accused of assaulting a woman at a gas station before kidnapping her appeared in court Thursday.

Malik Fortes, 26, did not ask for bond when he stood before the judge in Norfolk.

Police said Fortes attacked 25-year-old Olivia Oliver at Shell Gas Station at 500 N. Military Highway Wednesday. The incident took place around 2:30 p.m.

Investigators said after Fortes assaulted Olive, he dragged her into a black Chevrolet pick-up truck, then drove off.

Police found the truck in the 1300 block of Kempsville Road and arrested Fortes. They said Oliver was safe.

Digging into Fortes's past, 13News Now found out he's lived in Hampton Roads his whole life and has worked at the shipyard for the past six months.

This isn't Fortes first run-in with the law. In 2016, he faced three felonies and one misdemeanor charge for Breaking and Entering, Aggravated Sexual Battery and Assault and Battery against another victim. These charges were eventually withdrawn.
