NORFOLK, Va. (WVEC) -- Workshops and a job fair will offer people seeking employment a chance to improve their interview skills and an opportunity to find work.
The Pathway to Prosperity Job Skills Training & Job Fair will include four sessions in May followed by a job fair at Scope on June 1. The job fair will feature 75 local employers.
Norfolk Pastors’ Coalition, Opportunity Inc., Norfolk Redevelopment & Housing Authority, Virginia Employment Commission, and the City of Norfolk are working together to stage the workshops and fair.
“This is civic engagement at its best,” said Kenneth C. Alexander, Mayor. “Working with the Pastors’ Coalition, we are reaching into the community and empowering people to take steps to improve their lives for themselves and their families. The workshops and job fair will put people on the right path for success.”
Workshops will focus on interview techniques, resume preparation, and how to navigate a job fair.
Dates, locations, and times of the workshops:
- May 15, Huntersville Community Center, 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
- May 16, Mount Gilead MB Church, 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
- May 17, Southside Aquatics Center, 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.
- May 18, Second Calvary Baptist Church, 12:30 p.m. to -3:30 p.m.
The job fair will take place June 1 in Scope Exhibition Hall from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Scope is located at 201 E. Brambleton Ave. in Norfolk.
