NORFOLK, Va. (WVEC) -- Police are investigating a dog attack involving at least two pit bulls.

Officers said the attack happened at the Costco located on Glenrock Road just after 11 a.m.

During the incident, police say a woman and her leashed dog were attacked by one of the pit bulls outside the main door of the business.

The woman was bit, but because of conflicting reports, investigators say it's unclear whether her own dog or the pit bull bit her.

The woman's leashed dog was also injured, and was taken to a local veterinarian.

When animal control officers arrived at the Costco, they were told that one pit bull was inside the business, and was being restrained by a customer.

Officers then found the second pit bull running on Glenrock road, but were able to catch it.

The owner of the two pit bulls, 27-year-old Geoffrey McKenzie, was issued two summons for animal at large.

"I wasn't there, I don't know anything about it," McKenzie told 13News Now outside his home. "I would never wish for anyone to get bitten. And I feel terrible that she did. They didn't say if it was her dogs or my dogs so I don't know. I feel terrible that she got bitten."

The two pit bulls are currently being held at the Norfolk Animal Shelter for a 10-day quarantine.
