PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WVEC) -- Portsmouth police have arrested a man accused of shooting two men, killing one of them, in October.

The shooting happened Oct. 27 in the 900 block of Suburban Parkway. Police were called to the scene shortly before 8:30 p.m.

Arriving officers and medics found two men with gunshot wounds to their upper upper body. One man, Christopher A. Washington, was pronounced dead on the scene by medics. Another man, whose name has not been released, was taken to the hospital with life threatening injuries.

Detective Misty Holley with Portsmouth Police told 13News Now 33-year-old Martario D. Gee, of Portsmouth, was taken into custody Thursday, Nov. 17, and charged in connection with the shooting.

A patrol officer reportedly spotted Gee in a car in the 900 block of Green Street. The officer knew Gee was wanted for murder and conducted a traffic stop. Gee was immediately taken into custody without incident.

Police say Gee has been charged with murder, felonious assault, two counts of use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
