SUFFOLK, Va. (WVEC) -- A 91-year-old man died after a fire ripped through a Suffolk home on Friday morning.
Timothy Kelley with the City of Suffolk said the fire happened in the 7600 block of S. Quay Road/Route 58 around 5:45 a.m.
Arriving firefighters found heavy smoke and fire coming from the back side of the home. The fire was brought under control just after 7 a.m.
Officials say Ralph Saunders was found dead inside the home. No foul play is suspected.
The Fire Marshal's Office says the cause of the fire seems to be accidental. They believe Saunders was reportedly using a stove to heat the home and combustible material was too close to the heat source.
