SUFFOLK, Va. (WVEC) -- Police say a young girl suffered non-life threatening injuries after running into a slow-moving car in the parking lot of North Suffolk Library.

The incident happened just before 11 a.m. at the library located at 2000 Bennetts Creek Park Rd.

Investigators learned that the young girl, believed to be three or four, had run out of the entrance of the library into the parking lot.

Her mother was behind her advising her to stop, but the child ran into the passenger side of a Nissan Armada traveling through the parking lot.

The driver remained at the scene.

Medics transported the girl to the hospital to be treated for minor injures.

The incident is still under investigation, however no charges are expected against the driver of the vehicle.
