SUFFOLK, Va. (WVEC) -- Trash juice will cost a local landfill nearly $68,000.

That is the fine the Southeastern Public Service Authority will pay for issues at the Suffolk landfill.

Earlier this year, the SPSA told state regulators it had discovered a massive buildup of leachate at the landfill. That's a mixture of water and chemicals from decomposing trash.

The SPSA is also working to fix the problems that led to the buildup.

We're told that could cost $4 million.
