VIRGINIA BEACH -- Hampton Roads breweries will be participating in the Backyard Sports Club Battle of the Beers, an event that will benefit local Hampton Roads-based charities. The event will be at Tapped Gastropub in Virginia Beach on October 25th, 2014 from 1pm to 6pm. During the event, ticket holders will receive two samples of beer in two different categories from each brewery. Tasters will then vote on their favorite beer from each category to help determine the winners of the battles. Submitted beers will also be judged by professional judges in a blind taste test to help determine winners. Ticket holders will also receive food catered by Tapped Gastropub, souvenir pint glasses, live music from Brandon Bower and Gridlock 64, cornhole games, raffle prizes, professional photography and much more.

Participating in the Backyard Sports Club Battle of the Beers will be O'Connor and Smartmouth brewing companies from Norfolk, Back Bay and Young Veterans brewing companies from Virginia Beach, St. George brewing company from Hampton, AleWerks brewing company from Williamsburg, and Brass Cannon brewing company from Toano. This battle is one of a kind, as it is exclusively reserved for breweries within Hampton Roads. Brewers are encouraged to bring whatever recipe, previously released to the public or not, they think will win the battle in each category.

Tickets are between $35 and $40 depending on when you purchase. You must be 21 years or older to purchase a ticket.
