VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WVEC) -- Ferrell Parkway was closed temporarily Saturday night after a bicyclist was hit and killed by a car.

Patrick Kane with Virginia Beach Police said the accident happened at 10:37 p.m. in the 4900 block of Ferrell Parkway.

An investigation found the driver of the car had the right of way while heading eastbound on Ferrell Parkway, when the bicyclist entered into the driver's lane and was struck.

The bicyclist, an adult male, died at the scene.

Police said speed and alcohol do not appear to be factors contributing to the crash. At this time, there are no charges pending against the driver.

The crash remains under investigation.
