VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WVEC) -- A Virginia Beach construction worker was knocked into a trench on Monday afternoon.
Units from Virginia Beach Fire, EMS, and Police all responded to the 500 block of Kempsville Road.
Fire officials say that shortly after 2 p.m., a worker at a construction site across the street from the old Kempsville High School was struck by a piece of machinery, which knocked him into a trench.
The fire department was able to life the worker out from the ditch, and he was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Virginia Beach Public Utilities said the worker is a contractor who was working on a sanitary sewer pump station at that location.
