VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WVEC) -- On Friday morning, people filled Virginia Beach for the Tidewater Veterans Day Parade. It was a moment for veterans to reflect upon their service, and those they served with.

"It brings tears to my eyes, it's nice that people remember," said Lawrence Wagner, an Army veteran.

Ernest White brought his kids to the parade. "There was a lot of time that I got to spend away from them and not with them. And so now I want to get some of that time back, but at the same time, recognize and honor the service of other members who have gone before me and along with me," he said.

"I've been around the world and I haven't found a country that's any better than this one. We're very fortunate to have a country that's so free," added Wagner.

Debby Blancher's husband is a veteran. She brought her grandkids with her to the parade. "I teach them there's an American Flag here, theres an American flag there, let's point out the American flag and I say we love America and we love our flag," she said.
