VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WVEC) -- A man accused of starting a fire at a Virginia Beach home on Wednesday is in police custody.

Art Kohn with the Virginia Beach Fire Department says the a call came in shortly before 2 p.m. Wednesday reporting a fire at a home in the 5000 block of Haygood Road. Firefighters arrived to find two men outside the home.

Two fires found burning in separate rooms of the house were put out quickly, firefighters say. Investigators said the fires appeared to be intentionally set.

An accelerant-sniffing dog alerted authorities to locations within the home where investigators believe there were traces of an accelerant that was used to start the fire.

Damage to the home was mostly limited to the two rooms where the fire appears to have started.

David Antwon Nelson, 32, was arrested and charged with arson and threat to burn in connection with the fire. He is currently in the custody of Virginia Beach Police.
