VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WVEC) -- The officer that was stabbed earlier this morning while trying to arrest a 17-year-old is recovering at home, officials said.

Police said they responded to a call in the 4700 block of Victory Rd. shortly after 2:30 a.m.

Upon arrival, they found 17-year-old Riley Miller in front of the home who became uncooperative.

As police were trying to detain him, the suspect stabbed one of the officers with a knife.

The injured officer was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries and was released.

Miller is charged with attempt capital murder of a police officer, robbery, use of a fire arm, malicious wounding, conspiracy.

13News Now released Miller's name due to the severity of the charges.

The second suspect who we are not identifying because of his age is charged Robbery, use of a Firearm and conspiracy.

13News Now reached out to Miller's attorney, he told us this is a difficult situation for everyone involved.

Officials said an investigation revealed he was also involved in the assault and robbery that happened earlier this morning in the 4800 block of Shore Dr.

He is also charged with robbery, malicious assault, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and conspiracy to commit robbery.
