VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WVEC) -- A man arrested back in August of 2016 in connection with the robbery of a Wells Fargo in Virginia Beach has been sentenced on Tuesday.

On Aug. 3, dispatchers received a call shortly before 3 p.m. about an armed robbery at the Wells Fargo bank located in the 600 block of Independence Blvd.

The male suspect, identified as 46-year-old Marcus Algenia McCall, gave the teller a note demanding money while displaying a handgun and, after obtaining an undisclosed amount of cash, fled the scene on foot.

McCall, of the 500 block of Berrypick Lane, has been charged with robbery, use of a firearm and entering a bank while armed.

He has been sentenced to 18 years in prison with 12 years suspended leaving. McCall must serve 6 years.
