VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WVEC) -- A Virginia Beach elementary school was on external lockdown for approximately 20 minutes on Tuesday as an arrest warrant was being served nearby.

Rosemont Elementary went on lockdown at about 11:40 a.m. An external lockdown is when all doors except the front entrance are locked, and all visitors must be accompanied by a staff member.

Police said a warrant was issued in the 1300 block of Sierra Drive. A suspect was taken into custody and the lockdown was lifted at noon.

The suspect has not been identified, nor have police said what charges the individual is facing.
