NORFOLK, Va. (WVEC) -- The Norfolk Department of Recreation, Parks and Open Space (RPOS) has achieved national accreditation by the Commission for Accreditation of Parks and Recreation Agencies (CAPRA).
RPOS spent the last two years preparing for the accreditation process.
The accreditation by CAPRA indicates that RPOS met rigorous standards related to management and administration of lands, facilities, resources, programs, safety and services.
CAPRA is the only national accreditation for park and recreation agencies. Out of over 6,000 recreation departments in the U.S., less than 200 have achieved accreditation.
