NORFOLK, Va. (WVEC) - - It's a relationship that's began fifteen years ago.
That's when Dennis Rizzo planted a small, 3-feet tall Christmas tree in his yard.
“It's so amazing I call it my baby,” said Rizzo.
The tree now stands 25-feet tall in front of his house on Millard Street in Norfolk.
“It was nice and round,” said Rizzo. “So I knew it would be a beautiful tree if it grew.”
Now, every new branch strengthens the bond between man and nature.
“I'm going to put it in my will that you can't cut the tree down,” said Rizzo.
However, one thing has been missing over the years.
The tree is too tall, and it would be too expensive, to get lights on the tree by himself.
“Past fifteen years it hasn't been decorated,” said Rizzo.
So for another year, the lights will have to stay inside on his regular-sized Christmas tree.
It's no distraction to his pride and joy standing proudly outside just a few feet away.
