NORFOLK, Va. (WVEC) -- Police said Thursday that a man who was dead in a home Wednesday night was killed.

Officers arrived at the home in the 800 block of West 42nd Street around 8:50 p.m. after they received a call about a 58-year-old man who was unconscious. Medics determined he was dead. Police classified the case as a homicide investigation.

On Friday, 39-year-old Moranda M. Marshall of Richmond was arrested and charged with second degree murder of the death of Larry Nicholson.

The man's roommate, Nadjib Nedgjar, said he was the one who found the body.

Between Christmas and New Year's, Nedjar figured his roommate was just visiting family when they didn't see each other for a few days.

On Wednesday night after he got home from the ODU library, Nedjar said the Nicholson's family came looking for him.

Nedjar checked his room once. But, when the family insisted they check for themselves, Nedjar followed.

They opened the door, turned on the lights, and he says that's when they found the man dead underneath blankets.

Nedjar called police.

"What really messed me up was when he curled up and there was blood on the floor. It was too difficult to know what kind of wound it was, if it was cut wounds or what because there was so much blood on the wound itself," he said.

Nedjar said they recently received threats and someone threw a concrete block through their window.

A few weeks ago, he says someone even wrote "187" on their front door, the California penal code for "murder".

Detectives have not released a motive, circumstance, or relationship surrounding this incident.
