DARE COUNTY, N.C. (WVEC) -- Sheriff's deputies are asking for the public's assistance in locating a missing 15-year-old girl whom they believe ran away from home.

Elizabeth Marie Sinks left her home in Southern Shores, and had originally been last seen the night of Friday, October 14, in Colington, N.C.

Sinks is white with dark skin and dark brown hair with red streaks. She was last seen wearing a white Hurley or Rip Curl sweatshirt, jeans, and an orange toboggan. She may be carrying a red, green, yellow, and black backpack.

Deputies say Sinks should be in the company of 16-year-old John William Smith. Smith is described as a white male, standing about 5'11'' tall, with curly brown hair. male approx. 5’11” tall with curly brown hair. He was last seen wearing a blue and black long sleeve flannel shirt and jeans. He may be wearing a black hat with a skull on the front.

Sinks and Smith were last seen Oct. 19 in the Soundview Drive area of Colington, N.C.
