CURRITUCK COUNTY, Va. (WVEC) -- The U.S. Small Business Administration has added Currituck County to the disaster declaration in North Carolina.

County officials say small business owners and most private non-profit organizations may now be eligible for disaster loans.

The move comes in response to Hurricane Matthew, which brought brought heavy rains, wind and flooding to several counties in the state earlier in October.

The filing deadline to return applications for physical property damage is Dec. 9, 2016. The deadline to return economic injury applications is July 10, 2017.
