North Carolina high school student arrested after school fight, gun found in coat

A student at H.L. Trigg was arrested after a fight because the School Resource Officer found a gun, magazine with bullets, marijuana and digital scales in his coat.

ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. — The Pasquotank Sheriff's Office arrested a student at H.L. Trigg after a fight.

On Wednesday, March 13 deputies arrested a 16-year-old student for simple assault and resist, delay or obstruct justice among other charges.

During an investigation, the full-time School Resource Officer found a handgun, magazines with bullets, a plastic pill bottle containing marijuana and digital scales in the student's coat.

The 16-year-old was charged with:

  • misdemeanor simple assault
  • misdemeanor resist, delay or obstruct justice
  • felony possession of a firearm on an educational property
  • felony possession of a firearm with an altered or removed serial number
  • felony possession of a stolen firearm
  • felony possession with the intent to sell or deliver marijuana

He was taken to Albemarle District Jail under a $4000 bond.
