NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WVEC) -- Police are looking for a suspect who robbed a bank in Towne Center on June 23.

Officers said at 2:05 p.m. at 1 Old Oyster Point Road, an unknown man passed a note to the teller demanding money while placing a handgun on the counter.

The teller put an undisclosed amount of money into a bag and the and robber got away.

Police describe the suspect as a black male in his 50's with facial hair. During the robbery he was wearing a blue shirt with red stripes and faded blue jeans.

After fleeing the bank, a dye pack activated and the suspect fled to the Intown Suites and got into a white sedan.

The car was being driven by someone else.

Police say some money was recovered at the scene, but it is unknown how much the suspect got away with.

Police are still investigating.
