Two dead, one person arrested after crash in NC

Officers arrested the driver of one of the vehicles and charged him with one count of driving while impaired.

ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. (WVEC) -- Two people are dead following a vehicle accident early Sunday morning.

Authorities said a truck and a car collided around 2:30 a.m. at the intersection of Halstead Boulevard and Ridgefield Drive.

Ramona Finney and Michael Tazewell were riding in a Dodge Avenger when their vehicle collided with a Chevy Silverado Crew Cab.

Finney and Leonard died as a result of their injuries.

The driver of the Chevy Silverado, Leon Walston, Jr., was arrested and charged with one count of driving while impaired. Walston was processed and placed under $5,000 secured bond.

Officers continue to investigate the crash.
