NORFOLK, Va. (WVEC) -- The U.S. Navy has awarded BAE Systems Norfolk Ship Repair over $139 million to update the USS Tortuga.

The award comes after several rounds of layoffs.

The company says now they will be adding nearly 100-full time positions before the start of the restorative work on the ship.

The maintenance and upgrade work is expected to take roughly 16 months.

Repairs will be done in Norfolk and are expected to be finished by 2019.
