NORTHAMPTON COUNTY, Va. (WVEC) -- An Eastern Shore man who allegedly stabbed a woman to death outside the Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital last year has been found guilty on Tuesday.
Winston Leroy Burton is guilty of first degree murder and the life sentence is recommended.
Burton's victim, Shelli Crockett, was a member of the hospital’s environmental services team. She had arrived for work shortly after 7 a.m. on November 28, 2016, where Burton was waiting for her in the parking lot, according to witnesses.
Crockett died shortly after the attack and Burton turned himself in following the stabbing, police said. He was arrested the same day at the Eastern Shore Regional Jail, according to Northampton County Sheriff David L. Doughty Jr.
Burton's pre-sentencing trial has not been set yet.
