A mother and son in Stafford, Va. rang in the new year with a lot of luck—and cash.

Her son Tim was overseas when he woke up Jan. 2 to urgent calls from his mom.

“I thought it was either really bad news or something about the raffle drawing,” he said.

Luckily it was the latter. Wijitra and Tim had won the top prize.

Wijitra bought the ticket at Weis Markets at 905 Garrisonville Road in Stafford. It was one of one of three top prize winners in the drawing. The others were sold in Bedford and Virginia Beach.
