ALEXANDRIA, Va. (WVEC) -- Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump is trailing Democratic rival Hillary Clinton by nine points, according to a new survey.

The survey, released by the Virginia Chamber of Commerce, shows Trump with 38 percent of likely voters in Virginia and Clinton with 47 percent.

Trump's only significant lead is in the Roanoke area, where he leads 53-39 percent. Officials say this 15-point lead is not enough to make up for Clinton's 27 percent lead in the Washington, D.C. area, at 30-57 percent.

The survey also polled voters on other issues; including the right to work, the direction of the economy and whether they would support the Washington Redskins moving from FedEx field in Maryland to a new stadium in northern Virginia.

The survey was conducted Oct. 12-15 using attitudes of 500 likely voters in Virginia.
