RICHMOND, Va. (WVEC) -- Officers shot a man who fired at them with an assault-style rifle Thursday morning.
According to our sister station, WRIC, police were dispatched to the 1200 block of St. John St. in Gilpin Court where they found a man suffering from a non-life threatening gunshot wound.
Just moments after they found the man, an officer saw a car that matched the description of the suspect vehicle.
Officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop, but the vehicle fled and police began a pursuit.
The vehicle stopped after it approached a dead end near Dill Ave. and Pollock St.
One of the occupants got out of the car and then began firing at police.
Officers returned fire and struck the suspect, who was rushed to a nearby hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Another occupant inside the suspect vehicle fled the scene, but it's unclear at this time if the suspect is still at large or if police have taken him into custody.
No officers were injured.
