CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (AP) - A University of Virginia police officer has resigned after yelling "Make America Great Again" over a PA system to students.
Media outlets report that according to a release from the university, three officers were originally placed on administrative leave, but an investigation revealed only one officer used the PA system.
According to a report by The Daily Progress, some students were "unhappy about the direction the elections had taken" and were walking back to their dorms the morning of Nov. 9, which is when the officer began chanting "Make America Great Again."
The comments caused some students to take their concerns to a protest at last week's Board of Visitor's meeting.
The university says the officer took responsibility for his actions and resigned.
