James City County man charged with aggravated assault after shooting victim in arm

Thirty-eight-year-old George Antonio Jimmison was charged with aggravated assault after he was accused of shooting a man in the arm Monday night outside a Williamsburg hotel, police said.

George Antonio Jimmison, 38, of James City County, was charged with aggravated assault, brandishing a firearm and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

A James City County man was charged with aggravated assault after he was accused of shooting a man in the arm Monday night, Williamsburg Police PIO Maj. Greg Riley said.

Around 11:45 p.m., police were called to a shooting in the 300 block of 2nd Street.

A witness and the victim told police that during an argument the victim was shot by 38-year-old George Antonio Jimmison, Riley said.

After the shooting, Jimmison fled the area.

The victim was taken to Riverside Regional Medical Center and treated for his injuries.

Jimmison was taken into custody Tuesday morning with the assistance of James City County Police Department, Riley said.

Jimmison was charged with aggravated assault, brandishing a firearm and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

He is being held at the Virginia Peninsula Regional Jail.
