VIRGINIA BEACH, Va (WVEC) – Two people were caught on camera taking furniture from a thrift store and now a woman is facing charges.

The incident happened Sunday morning at the Judeo-Christian Outreach Center Community Thrift Store.

Surveillance video shows a man and a woman taking at least two trips to the store in a truck. They got away with two couches, a book shelf and plastic bin, video shows.

“It’s more anger, you feel like violated,” said co-owner Jason Engelhardt.

The items were outside of the store. It’s a normal practice when there is an overflow of donations, owners say.

“Everything that we have here has a purpose,” said co-owner Lisa Engelhardt.

The couple put the video on Facebook in hopes of catching the duo.

Multiple leads came from the community. Three days later, the tips led Lisa to a home minutes away from the store on Thalia Road.

“I’m like there’s our couches!” said Lisa. “They were plopped right on the front yard.”

Lisa called police.

Loretta Lynn Cantal

Authorities arrested Loretta Cantal, 51, and charged her with two counts of Grand Larceny.

Cantal is now out on bond, police say. Officials did not say if the man in the video was arrested.

The Engelhardt’s plan to put extra security measures in place at the store.

They’re thankful to the community for their help in catching at least one suspected culprit.

“It’s amazing what a city can do,” Lisa said.
