CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WVEC) -- Emergency crews battled a fire at a recycling facility Tuesday evening.

The fire happened at the Tidewater Fiber Corporation on block of Diamond Hill Road just after 8:30 p.m.

When crews arrived they saw heavy smoke coming from a large building that held a conveyor system used to separate materials.

Firefighters used several hose lines to get the fire under control within forty minutes.

The building sustained heavy smoke damage and the conveyor system experienced extensive damage.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, but evidence suggest the fire may have begun from the machinery used to operate the conveyor system.

No one was injured in the fire.
