Man airlifted to hospital after suffering burns in Hampton car fire

Nightingale Air Ambulance airlifted a man to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. The man suffered burns from the car fire.

HAMPTON, Va. — A car fire at a grocery store parking lot left one man hurt in Hampton on Thursday.

The car fire happened around 7 a.m. in the 1900 block of Mercury Boulevard in a Kroger parking lot, Hampton Division of Fire and Rescue Battalion Chief Anthony Chittum said.

Nightingale Air Ambulance airlifted the man to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. He suffered burns from the car fire, Chittum said.

Hampton Division of Fire and Rescue units are still on scene investigating the incident.

There is no cause right now, he said.
