JAMES CITY COUNTY, Va. (WVEC) -- A man died Wednesday after his car ran off a James City County road and hit a tree.

The accident happened on Airport Road, east of Mooretown Road. State police were called to the scene at 1:08 a.m.

Authorities say a 2004 Ford Taurus, driven by 33-year-old Tuck L. Burnette, of Williamsburg, was heading eastbound on Airport Road when it ran off the road and hit a tree.

Burnette was not wearing his seat belt, according to state police. In addition, alcohol is suspected to be a factor in the crash.
