POWELLS POINT, N.C. (WVEC) -- A 60-year-old man was hurt going down a slide at H2OBX Waterpark on the park's opening day.
Currituck County Fire Chief Ralph Melton told 13News Now that rescue workers went to the waterpark around 2 p.m. Thursday after they received a report of a man who had a traumatic injury.
Upon arrival, they found the 60-year-old with an injury to his upper arm and shoulder area.
A crew took him to the hospital for treatment. As of Saturday, he was listed in good condition.
Melton said emergency workers determined the man was hurt while while he was going down a water slide. There was no indication that there were any issues with the equipment.
Melton added that it's common for people to get hurt when they attempt to do something beyond what their physical conditions allow.
