CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WVEC) -- It's hard to believe that out of Virginia's more than 275 different specialty license plates, there's not one of the US Navy.
A retired Navy captain wants to change that.
According to our partners at The Virginian-Pilot, Roger Hirsh of Chesapeake noticed it when he went to switch his plates.
So, he started a personal campaign to add a plate for the Navy. If he's heard, the new plate would require approval from the General Assembly before it's available at the DMV.
Hirsh has started a Facebook group to promote awareness of the proposed license plate.
