The nation's most expensive naval ship in history is set to be commissioned next month!

The future USS Gerald R. Ford (CVN 78) will be commissioned on July 22.

It's the first of a new class of nuclear-powered aircraft carriers for the Fleet. It will pioneer new technology, such as electromagnetic catapults and arresting gear, a new island structure and and expanded flightdeck that will alllow aircrafts to be launched faster than ever before.

If you'd like to attend the Saturday afternoon commissioning, you need to request tickets, which are being accepted until June 30.

There's a limit of two tickets per request and you have to be at least nine-years-old to attend.
