VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WVEC) -- Just a week after the deaths of the two aviators whose jet crashed off the coast Florida, one foundation wants to help raise money to support the victims' families.
Lt. Cmdr. James Johnson and Lt. Caleb King both died last week after their F/A-18F Super Hornet crashed off the coast of Key West.
The Wingman Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing support for the Navy and Marine Corps Aviation community and their families, has launched a fundraiser for the families of both Johnson and King.
The non-profit posted this statement about the intentions of the fundraiser:
"The families and squadron affected by this mishap have given The Wingman Foundation their full support in launching this fundraiser to help with current and future expenses. Rest assured, 100% of all donations will go to those affected."

The aviators' jet was assigned to Strike Fighter Squadron Two One Three (VFA-213), which was based at Naval Air Station Oceana.
The foundation also says it plans to create a memorial patch solely dedicated to honoring Naval aviation members in VFA-212 with flight patches that squadrons and Gold Star Families helped make.
Those patches will be provided free-of-charge to families and all members of the squadron.
