NORFOLK, Va. (WVEC) -- After a 7-month long deployment, the guided-missile destroy USS Mahan will return to Naval Station Norfolk Tuesday.

As part of Carrier Strike Group Two, the Mahan deployed as part of the ongoing rotation of forward deployed forces to support maritime security operations and operate in international waters across the globe, along with other maritime forces, according to the U.S. Navy.

The ship was operating in the U.S. 5th and 6th Fleet areas of operation.

The USS Mahan is an Arleigh Burke-class destroyer with a crew of about 300 sailors.
