NC family says they were sickened by recalled eggs

The Fayetteville family was experiencing diarrhea, nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. They believed they were infected with salmonella after eating recalled eggs.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -- “Something was wrong with our bodies you know. And we just weren’t normal, it just started happening, everybody getting sick,” Teresa Hargrove explained.

The Fayetteville family was experiencing diarrhea, nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. They believed they were infected with salmonella after eating recalled eggs.

“Once I checked the eggs, I saw it said P-10-65. And those are the same eggs that’s been recalled from the shelves at Walmart,” said family member Constance McMullen.

Indiana-based Rose Acre Farms has recalled more than 200 million eggs. Its eastern North Carolina chicken farm recently failed several inspections.

Inspectors observed dozens of live and dead rodents including baby mice, employees skipping required cleaning procedures plus grimy floors and dirty equipment.

The company houses more than 3,000,000 hens and has asked the public not to rush to judgment. The FDA said the facility could get shut down if issues aren’t corrected before the next inspection.
