NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WVEC) -- A hit-and-run accident left a bicyclist in critical condition on Wednesday.

At 9:04 a.m. authorities received a call about a vehicle that hit a man riding his bike in the 1200 block of Tyler Avenue.

The driver of a vehicle described as a white van from the late 90's or early 20s fled the scene. The van had black lettering on the side displaying an unknown painting company.

The bicyclist was taken to a local hospital for life-threatening injuries.

The incident is still under investigation and no further information was released.
