NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WVEC) -- Police respond to shooting with one person injured early Saturday morning.

Authorities received a call at 2:02 a.m. about a shooting victim at the intersection of Jefferson Avenue and Croswell Place.

When police arrived they located a 21-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound.

The victim was transported to a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

The victim said he had been at Riverlands Apartments near where he was located.

Police say the only description they have of the suspect is that he a dark skin black male who was wearing a black hoodie, black jeans, and black shoes.

The suspects height is around 5'3"- 5'4" tall.

The investigation is still ongoing.

No further information was released.
