NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WVEC) -- Do not fear, it's just a drill.

The Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility is conducting a monthly test of it's tornado warning siren.

At 10:30 a.m. on Friday, depending on weather conditions, the siren can be hear from anyone within a mile and a half radius of the lab.

The test is expected to last up to three minutes, and have a wavering tone.

This siren will be used to alert members of the lab community who are outdoors to take cover in the event of a tornado or tornado warning.
