NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WVEC) -- Emergency crews responded to an alarm that signaled a bank robbery, Friday October 7.

The robbery occurred at the Bayport Credit Union on Warwick Blvd. just before 2 p.m.

According to witnesses, the suspect walked up to the teller and handed them a note demanding money and implied that she had a gun.

The suspect was last seen leaving the area, around the back of the bank, on foot.

The suspect is described as a black female. She is around 30-40 years old, and 5'8" with a slim build. She was last seen wearing light blue jeans, a dark color top, and a hat.
