SUFFOLK, Va. (WVEC) -- The city is looking for people to compete in their award-winning citywide scavenger hunt Saturday, June 24.

Competitors will explore new and old spots around the city in the Amazing Peanut Chase Citywide Scavenger Hunt.

This is the second year for the event, created by the Suffolk Public Library. The first scavenger hunt won a statewide award from the Virginia Public Library Directors Association in 2016.

The scavenger hunt encourages people to work as a team to explore the city while competing for prizes.

People may participate as individuals or as a team. A packet of clues will be available at the North Suffolk Library on Saturday, between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Participants are encouraged to pick up their clues as early as possible so that they may have more time to visit more hunt spots.

The hunt will end back back at the North Suffolk Library, where a party will be held and prizes handed out to the winners.

Competitors can show off their progress on social media using the hashtag #AmazingPeanutChase.

Participants will need a mode of transportation since the scavenger hunt spots will be at various locations around the city.

Teams are encourages to register for a quick distribution of clue packets, but it is not required. Teams can register through the library's online calendar.
