GLOUCESTER COUNTY, Va. (WVEC) -- A single car accident left one man dead Wednesday night.

Police were alerted to an accident at 9:30 p.m. on Low Ground Road about 1.5 miles north of Guinea Road in Gloucester County.

A 2011 Mercury Grand Marguis, driven by Matthew Gowen, ran off the road and hit a tree.

The 20-year-old from Yorktown was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle.

Gowen suffered major injuries and was transported to the Walter Reed Hospital.

He was later pronounced dead.

The investigation is still ongoing, and the family has been notified.
