NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WVEC) -- Newport News Police had a busy night Wednesday night into Thursday morning after responding to one stabbing, two shootings and an armed robbery.

The stabbing and shooting happened within two hours of each other at a nightclub in Newport News.

Police responded to The Alley on Newmarket Square at 12:30 a.m. for a stabbing. Then, an hour-and-a-half later, at 1:45 a.m., they reported back to the same place for a shooting.

The stabbing involved a 24-year-old Hampton resident. The victim suffered from a stab wound in his upper chest area.

Employees said a large fight broke out with the victim being assaulted by a number of males. After the fight, the victim was located lying on the sidewalk in front of the club.

The victim was taken to the local hospital for life-threatening injuries.

A 26-year-old man was injured in the shooting just a little more than an hour later. He was rushed to a nearby hospital to be treated for a non-life threatening injury.

Police could not say if the two incidents at The Alley were related, but they do not believe the shooting was a random act of violence.

Investigators say an argument took place in the club's parking lot at which time the 26-year-old victim was shot one time.

Newport News officers responded to a shooting on the 4500 block of Madison Avenue at 12:49 a.m., in between the nightclub incidents.

Upon police arrival, police found a 32-year-old Newport News resident on the front porch of a residence with a single gunshot wound to the lower right abdomen.

Witnesses reported an unknown car drove in front of the house and opened fire. Neither the witness or the victim could provide vehicle or suspect descriptions.

No further information was released about this event.

Then around 3:00 a.m., authorities received a call from Country Inn & Suites located at 1069 J Clyde Morris Boulevard. According to the clerk, a heavy black man wearing a black and purple jersey robbed the business.

The robber brandished a knife and demanded money. The suspect left the hotel with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Authorities further described the man as approximately 6 feet tall, about 230-250 pounds. He has a short unkept afro, and was seen wearing a black bandana with white just below the eyes.

Police released surveillance video of the incident:
